Motorcyclist going near 100 mph escapes Kennewick police. See the video

A speeding motorcyclist reached about 100 mph while running from police officers on the winding Bob Olson Parkway in south Kennewick.

An officer was parked along the curving four-lane parkway near Sherman Street about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, when a blue and black motorcycle sped by at 72 mph in the 45-mph zone., Kennewick police said in a Facebook post.

When the officer tried to stop the bike, the rider sped up to 80 to 100 mph.

The driver got away, but investigators believe the rider lives in the nearby neighborhood.

Anyone with information about the motorcyclist is asked to contact police using the non-emergency dispatch number at 509-628-0333.

Police have been increasing patrols on the south Kennewick roadway after several people raised concerns about speeders on the street, police said.

“We recognize that speeding vehicles on Bob Olson Parkway are a serious issue due to the risk of injury it can cause drivers and innocent bystanders,” said the post.

The increased emphasis patrols led police to catch another speeding motorcyclist traveling 69 mph in the same area about 10:15 p.m. Thursday.
