A burning truck snarled traffic on Interstate 182 Thursday, forcing drivers to wait in long lines at a busy Pasco interchange.

A 58-year-old driving west on the interstate told investigators he was trying to avoid an erratic driver near the intersection with Oregon Avenue when he lost control and hit a guardrail about 3:45 p.m., Trooper Daniel Mosqueda told the Tri-City Herald.

The man was able to escape the 2020 Chevy Silverado with minor injuries, but the collision sparked a fire. Mosqueda said the truck was fully engulfed when troopers arrived.

The blaze was quickly extinguished, but the cleanup took some time, dispatch reports said.

Mosqueda said the man was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
