3 Pasco students hospitalized when a teen driver fell asleep on I-90

Three young Pasco passengers were hurt when their 17-year-old driver fell asleep at the wheel Tuesday on Interstate 90.

A teen driver nodded off about 8 p.m. while he was heading west on the interstate about 7 miles outside of George in a 2013 Toyota Camry, the Washington State Patrol said.

The car drifted into the median and flipped.

While the driver wasn’t hurt, his three passengers — a 14-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy — were all taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The 14-year-old and 10-year-old were not wearing seat belts, the state patrol said.

The 17-year-old was cited for second-degree negligent driving.
