Man is stabbed, hit with a van trying to shield girlfriend from an ex, say police
A 55-year-old Pasco man is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend with a screwdriver, then trying to run him over with the van.
Terry R. Eldhardt allegedly has history of being violent with his ex, court documents said. On May 6, he allegedly stalked her and her new boyfriend to a friend’s home on Margaret Street in Pasco.
They told Pasco police that Eldhardt was waiting for them in his van and began yelling and insulting them before he got out and approached them.
When then new boyfriend stepped in front of the woman to shield her, Eldhardt allegedly made threats and swung at him, hitting him in the shoulder, said court documents.
“(He) felt pain and then heard Terry say he was going to stab him in the neck before swinging at him again,” court documents said.
The two began struggling over a screwdriver in Eldhardt’s hand. Eldhardt then dropped the weapon and headed for his van, said investigators.
He then allegedly drove at the new boyfriend, who jumped onto the hood to avoid being run over, said court documents. He suffered a broken finger, cuts on his back from landing on the ground, as well as other injuries to his face and knees.
Prosecutors charged Eldhardt with second-degree assault, vehicular assault, hit and run and felony harassment. An arrest warrant was issued in early June, but Eldhardt wasn’t arrested until July 8, court documents show.
He is being held in the Franklin County jail with bail set at $100,000.
