A 63-year-old West Richland man allegedly threatened his roommate with a chainsaw on Sunday, triggering a standoff that ended with his arrest

Kim A. Holbrook’s roommate reported about 4:25 p.m. that Holbrook threatened to kill him, according to dispatch reports.

When officers arrived they found Holbook and another person standing outside, according to dispatch reports.

West Richland police said later in a Facebook post that Holbrook walked back into his house with the chainsaw and wouldn’t come out.

Witnesses told officials that Holbrook had guns and live grenades inside, but after a short standoff, officers used a police dog to get Holbrook to surrender.

Police released no other details about the incident and did not say if live grenades were found.

Holbrook was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of felony harassment and misdemeanor assault.
