Kennewick police who responded to a burglary alarm at a Kennewick restaurant arrived to find a man sitting at a table and enjoying the establishment’s alcoholic drinks at 3 a.m. Saturday.

They also found a door open to Foodies at 2701 Paul Parish Drive in Columbia Park.

Fredy Basurto-Basurto, told responding officers he was in his own house and had a right to be there, according to a Kennewick police report.

“Fredy’s level of intoxication was obviously clouding his judgment,” according to the police report.

He was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of commercial burglary.

Kennewick police credited Foodies’ alarm system for allowing officers to quickly detain a suspect and encouraged residents and businesses to use security measures such as cameras or alarms.
