Suspected gang-related shooting shut down parts of busy Kennewick road

A suspected gang-related shooting left a car damaged and shut down parts of Clearwater Avenue Monday.

A suspect pulled next to another car in the eastbound lanes between Union Street and Les Schwab about 1 p.m. and began firing, Commander Isaac Merkl told the Tri-City Herald.

The other car was hit, but no one inside was hurt, Merkl said.

The other driver was able to escape and called police to report. Police closed intersections at Huntington Street and Union Street for a short time.

Police are still trying to determine what type of car the shooter was driving, and who may have been shooting.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the non-emergency dispatch number at 509-628-0333.
