Man who opened fire at one of Tri-Cities busiest intersections still on the run

Investigators are looking for a pedestrian who fired into traffic on Clearwater Avenue on Monday evening.

Several people called 911 about 6:15 p.m. after seeing a man shoot at a car driving past the Safeway store at Clearwater Avenue and Edison Street, said Kennewick police Commander Isaac Merkl.

When officers arrived, the shooter was gone — and so was the apparent target.

Officers surrounded the area and used a police dog and a drone to search the area.

The shooting suspect was not found but police stopped three teens in the area. One was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a robbery in Pasco, Merkl said. The others were released.

Officers also found some shell casings where the shots were fired but were still working Tuesday to find the shooter and the car being shot at.

Anyone who saw something in that area at that time or has video is asked to call Kennewick police at 509-628-0333 or submit an anonymous tip to www.kpdtips.com.
