A Pasco woman heard squeaking noises Wednesday coming from the attic of a house she was renovating.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered five furry “burglars” hiding in the floor.

They pulled back the drywall to rescue the tiny kittens burrowed in the insulation in the framing of the house, according to a Pasco police Facebook post.

The 3-1/2-week-old babies were rushed to the site of Tri-Cities Animal Services by Pasco police Officer Tom Yazwinski and an ambulance, the agency said on its Facebook page.

“Our amazing first responders carefully placed the kittens in a bucket and transported them — in an ambulance like the VIPS they are,” the agency said.

“Our lobby quickly filled with loud nonstop mews and the warm presence of Pasco’s finest.”

The kittens have been named Incendiary, Explosive, Ignite, Flammable and Combustible.

The agency that runs the animal shelter said the kittens are being fostered by the shelter’s on-site veterinarian. It’s unclear where their mom was.

They’ll be ready to adopt in about five weeks, shelter officials said.

“And trust us, you’re going to want to meet this sassy little squad,” the agency said.
