A teen was shot, 2 others arrested after a botched gun deal in a Tri-Cities parking lot
A Tri-Cities 17-year-old was shot and wounded after he and some friends allegedly tried to sell a gun in a Kennewick parking lot then reportedly fled with the money.
Noah R. Sanchez, 18, and Shaden K. Sullivan, 19, drove to a Columbia Center Boulevard business parking lot in a white Mercury about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday with plans to buy a gun from some 17-year-olds.
When Sanchez and Sullivan handed over the money, the sellers took off with the money and gun in a black BMW.
Upset they were getting ripped off, they gave chase said police.
At least one them allegedly fired shots at the BMW in the roundabout on Gage Boulevard and Center Parkway, Kennewick police said in a Facebook post. The shots hit wounded one of the 17-year-olds inside the BMW.
The BMW’s driver turned into the Richland fire station on Gage Boulevard looking for help for the wounded friend. But as they slowed down, the Mercury rammed into their car, said police.
Some of the firefighters ran outside just as the teens began to confront each other. Sullivan and Sanchez allegedly fled in the Mercury.
Richland police officers stopped and arrested them a short distance away on the 400 block of Keene Road.
The wounded 17-year-old was treated at a hospital and was in stable condition Thursday.
Police said they seized a stolen gun from the BMW, and another gun was found inside the Mercury.
Sanchez and Sullivan were booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion for first-degree assault and drive-by shooting. Sanchez faces an additional possible charge of second-degree assault. Sullivan also was booked for illegally possessing a gun.
Kennewick police are still investigating the 17-year-olds for allegedly stealing the money. Investigators said it appears they never intended to sell the gun just take the cash.
