2 dogs caught after attacking Richland woman walking dog near elementary school

Two dogs are being held by the Tri-Cities Animal Services after they attacked a woman and her corgi near a Richland elementary school.

The woman was walking with her dog by Lewis and Clark Elementary School about 6:15 a.m. Friday when two dogs suddenly attacked them, Commander Christopher Mason told the Tri-City Herald. She was bitten on her lower body and face.

She was taken to the hospital with a broken bone and cuts, according to social media reports. The woman and the dog are back home and doing OK.

Several people called 911 to report the attack, and by the time police had arrived the dogs had run away.

Mason said the dogs were found near the Columbia River and captured with help from their owner. They were turned over to the Tri-Cities Animal Services, which is handling the investigation.

The Tri-Cities Animal Services is an agency run that handles animal control for Richland, Kennewick and Pasco. They also manage the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter.

It’s unclear whether the dogs have a history of attacks or other problems.
