New lead in quadruple murder 64 years ago. Now Pasco police are asking for help
New information on a 64-year-old quadruple murder has Pasco police asking the public for help.
Pasco police Detective Julie Lee and evidence technician Ashley Lucas believe they know who shot and killed Truman H. Brown, 37, Celeste Dixon, 37, Israel “Chuck” Fowler, 38, and Robbie Jean Harris, 29, at a home in the 1200 block of East Clark Street on Aug. 11, 1960, the department said in a Facebook post.
A Tri-City Herald article from the time said the motive for the killing was a mystery, but a witness did hear the man yell, “This is a stickup! I want my money back” shortly before storming through the door.
He then herded the four through three doors to a bedroom where they were shot.
The witness, the 13-year-old son of one of the victims, watched as the shooter came into the house, heard the gunshots and then watched him leave.
He described the shooter as about 6-foot with graying hair that had a curl.
Others reported the man had been looking for Dixon just before the murders. Dixon, a seamstress and waitress, had come to Pasco just days before the murder, the Tri-City Herald reported.
Lee and Lucas are hoping someone has knowledge about the case that they’ll be able to add.
It’s not clear if the suspected shooter is still alive.
“The Pasco Police Department knows the importance of community involvement in solving cold cases and are seeking information from anyone who had been living in Pasco, WA in August 1960, or had a late family member who had lived in Pasco at that time who may have shared knowledge about this case,” the department said in the Facebook post.
Anyone with information is asked to email Lee at leej@pasco-wa.gov.
