A 30-year-old man allegedly broke into an ex-girlfriend’s home twice, hit her with a taser and ran from police during a one-night crime spree.

Jason A. Lake’s alleged crime spree on Feb. 10 landed him in the Benton County jail with $500,000 bail on two counts of residential burglary, violating a court order and trying to elude police. The potential charges are all being considered crimes of domestic violence.

Lake hasn’t entered a plea, and the bail amount could change.

He had been ordered to stay clear of his ex-girlfriend and her home after he allegedly threatened her, set a pillow on fire in her house and called police to her home.

Then he returned to the Eighth Place home on Feb. 10, where he got into an argument with his ex. She told investigators that he used a taser shaped like a cattle prod to shock her. He also bit her hand when she tried to keep his keys away from him because he appeared to be intoxicated.

The woman’s sister found the two of them arguing and called police about 10 p.m.

As officers approached the home, they spotted Lake’s Mazda and several officers approached the car and told him to get out. Lake allegedly drove away and two Kennewick officers started chasing him.

Lake began speeding away, and weaving through traffic. He ran a stop sign and was able to escape.

Investigators interviewed the witnesses and searched the area, but couldn’t find Lake, documents said. Shortly after they left, Lake returned to the home, and police were called back to the house.

When officers returned, they allegedly spotted Lake outside of the house. After they confronted him, Lake ran back to the house. A man at the house slammed the door to keep Lake out, but he bashed in the door as officers rushed in to arrest him.

Police found Lake struggling with the other man on the floor of the home. Officers pulled Lake away from the other man and were able to pin and arrest him.
