20-year-old accused of drinking before crash on blue bridge in Pasco injured 2

A 20-year-old was arrested Sunday night after he allegedly caused a crash on the blue bridge, injuring two people and bringing northbound traffic to a standstill.

Malachi K. Torres, 20, of Kennewick, hit a Chevy Silverado heading in the same direction on Highway 395 about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, said a Washington State Patrol traffic memo.

Torres, who was not hurt, was booked into the Franklin County jail on suspicion of driving after consuming alcohol while being younger than 21.

His black Acura hit a Chevy Silverado driven by Jose D. Valencia Alvira, 34.

Alvira and his passenger, Maria C. Villasenor, 37, both of Pasco, were taken to Lourdes Medical Center. Their condition was not immediately available Monday. Everyone involved was wearing their seat belts, said the WSP.

Investigators said alcohol played a role in the crash.
