A former Tri-Cities man who molested a young child when he was a teen has been found guilty nearly 30 years later of producing and distributing child pornography.

Casey Allen Greer, 47, was convicted in federal court of production of child pornography, conspiracy to produce child pornography and commission of a felony sex offense by an individual required to register as a sex offender.

Greer had been sentenced in Franklin County Superior Court in 1996, when he was 19, to about four years in prison for molesting a child under 12 who he was babysitting.

He had moved to the Tri-Cities to live with a family member in 1994 and attend Kamiakin High School after his family said he had been accused of molesting a child in Idaho, according to Franklin County Superior Court documents. He worked at Fun and Games Arcade in the Columbia Center mall in Kennewick.

In the recent federal court case, Greer was accused of working with a co-defendant from October to December 2021 to produce child sexual abuse material of a young child that Greer had been sexually abusing in Spokane for several months, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of Washington.

Greer and co-defendent Tony J. Bolen, 43, discussed when Greer would have access to the child and how Greer would medicate the victim to ensure the victim’s compliance during the sexual abuse, according to the prosecution.

Greer also repeatedly sent images and videos of the sexual abuse to Bolen, according to the prosecution. Bolen directed Greer on how to sexually abuse the victim, record the abuse and sent it to him, according to prosecutors.

Both men had prior Washington state convictions for child molestation, with Bolen’s conviction in Spokane County.

Bolen was found guilty of the same charges as Greer, plus receiving and transporting child pornography.

“My heart goes out to the young victim in this case,” said U.S. Attorney Vanessa Waldref.

“The harm and trauma that Mr. Bolen and Mr. Greer caused will last long after this trial, but I am hopeful the guilty verdicts provide some comfort and closure to the victim and their loved ones.”

Greer and Bolen are scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Mary Dimke on April 23 in the Spokane U.S. Courthouse.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice nationwide initiative to combat the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

It was investigated jointly by Homeland Security Investigations, the Washington State Patrol and the Spokane Police Department, as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ann Wick and Laurel Holland prosecuted the case.
