Police caught a stabbing suspect after a chase through an east Kennewick neighborhood Monday morning.

Jorge Rangel, 22, and another man got into an argument fueled by alcohol at home on the 200 block of East First Avenue, Kennewick Commander Isaac Merkl told the Tri-City Herald.

At some point, Rangel allegedly stabbed the other man in the back, said Merkl.

The victim was taken to an area hospital about 4:50 a.m. and medical staff called police. His wounds were not life threatening.

Police initially couldn’t find Rangel. Then about 10 a.m., police were alerted that he had returned to the house. When they arrived, he reportedly tried to flee, but was caught about a block away.

Rangel is being booked into the Benton County jail on investigation of first-degree assault.
