A 24-year-old Kennewick woman is in the Benton County jail after allegedly attacking another woman with a hatchet.

Whitney Rose Abbott was arrested about 1 p.m. Tuesday after police were called about an assault in a neighborhood just east of Highway 395 in Kennewick.

Officers say Abbott attacked another woman with a hatchet on the 2600 bock of West Bruneau Ave. The victim suffered minor injuries, police posted on Facebook.

The black hatchet was found in a grocery cart and was seized by police.

Abbott is being held on investigation of second-degree assault and an outstanding warrant. Her bail for both is set at $16,000.

She’d just gotten out of jail on May 9 after serving 14 days for another offense, according to online jail records.
