26-year-old woman hurt in T-bone crash while trying to cross Highway 395 in Pasco
A 26-year-old woman was hospitalized Monday afternoon after she pulled out in front of traffic on Highway 395 in Pasco.
Marina Leyva Saucedo, 26, of Manson, Wash., was heading west on Foster Wells Road when she got to the intersection with Highway 395 at 3:15 p.m., the Washington State Patrol said in a press release.
Investigators said she failed to yield to traffic in the southbound lanes of the highway after crossing the northbound lanes in a Dodge Ram pickup.
The passenger side of the pickup was T-boned by another Dodge Ram heading south.
Leyva Saucedo was hurt and taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. Her condition was not immediately available Tuesday, but Trooper Chris Thorson said she was conscious and alert when she was at the hospital after the crash.
The driver of the other truck, Riley J. Smith, 28, of Battle Ground, was not injured.
The crash near the Pasco Processing Center was along a stretch of Highway 395 that’s been prone to several deadly crashes where rural roads cross the busy divided highway.
A trio of fatal collisions, including two within a week in October 2023, raised concerns about the intersections.
Already in the first two months of 2024, two fatal crashes and three serious injury wrecks have happened in all Franklin County, according to Washington State Department of Transportation records.
