An elderly woman was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after she was hit crossing Gage Boulevard in Richland.

The woman was crossing in the 300 block about noon when she was struck by a vehicle, Richland police Deputy Chief David Neher told the Herald.

She was described as elderly, but her age was not available.

She was rushed to a local hospital where she is expected to survive, said police.

While her condition was not immediately available, but emergency dispatch reports said her head was bleeding.

That stretch of the busy four-lane street is mostly residential and has no crosswalk at that point. It’s unclear why she was crossing there.

The driver was not impaired or driving recklessly, Neher said. The driver and witnesses have been cooperating with police on the investigation, he said.
