An Adams County mother made a terrifying discovery when she went to check on her children early Wednesday morning.

Just after midnight at a home near Othello, Wash., when the mother looked in on her children she found a man in bed with her 11-year-old, according to a social media post by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Othello is about an hour north of Tri-Cities.

Investigators say the mother allegedly found Manuel Trinidad-Ortiz, 32, in the child’s bed with his pants and underwear down, “spooning” the child.

Trinidad-Ortiz was arrested in the area after deputies arrived. He has been booked into the Adams County jail on suspicion of residential burglary and attempted child rape, according to the sheriff’s office.

His bail has been set at $50,000, according to court records.

Investigators are not releasing any more information at this time in order to protect the identity of the child.
