A 21-year-old Richland man is in jail after he allegedly stabbed a man during a fistfight behind a busy Kennewick shopping center.

Initial police reports are not clear how the fight between Luis Ramos-Camacho and another man started, but Sgt. Chris Littrell said the two agreed to fight behind the shopping center on the 700 block of Columbia Center Boulevard.

The center includes Planet Fitness and Max Air Tri-Cities.

During the fight, Ramos-Camacho allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the other man, Littrell said.

Defense Attorney Michael Vander Sys pointed out during a Wednesday court hearing that the 19-year-old who was wounded was on top of Ramos-Camacho and punching him at the time.

He then allegedly went to a nearby gas station and called 911 to report that someone was injured.

His wounds were not life-threatening, and he was taken to a local hospital.

Detectives later arrested Luis Ramos-Camacho, who was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of second-degree assault. He is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
