Kennewick man turns himself in after being accused of nearly a decade of sexual abuse

A 65-year-old man is accused of abusing a child over the course of nine years.

Kennewick police were alerted about the alleged sexual abuse by Raul Diaz Orozco, of Kennewick in early May. One of Orozco’s family members told police that the abuse stretched between 2007 and 2016, according to a police news release.

When police talked to the victim, who is now an adult, they confirmed the crime, police said.

Orozco turned himself in about 11:30 a.m. Friday and he was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of first- and second-degree rape of a child and first degree child molestation.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to reach the Kennewick police department using the non-emergency dispatch number at 509-628-0333. Anonymous tips can be submitted at kpdtips.com.
