A 41-year-old pedestrian was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car while crossing a busy street.

The man was crossing 27th Avenue at Olympia Street at the crosswalk with the light about 11 a.m. Monday., said Kennewick police. The intersection is near the Kennewick Yoke’s Fresh Market grocery store.

A car turning from Olympia onto 27th Avenue hit the man in the crosswalk, Kennewick police said in a news release.

He suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The 34-year-old driver was not impaired, police said. He was cited for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
