Richland shooting leaves 1 dead, 2 wounded. Police searching for suspect

One person was shot and killed and two others wounded in an altercation in Richland on Thursday morning.

Richland police responded to a shooting on the 1900 block of McMurray Avenue about 10:15 a.m.

Richland Police Lt. Damon Jansen said that a passerby saw two people who had been shot in the street outside of a home on McMurray and called police.

The passerby then gave the men first aid until medics arrived, he said.

SWAT team members were called in to search the home and a third man was found shot to death inside, Jansen told the Herald.

The men are believed to all be in their 30s.

The two surviving men with gunshot wounds were rushed to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland for surgery, according to initial reports from the scene.

Scanner traffic indicated there may have been a fourth man with unspecified injuries.

Streets in the area of the home near Wright and Forest avenues were closed while police investigate.

Police were searching for a gunman who fled in a car, according to emergency scanner traffic.
