Kennewick police surround hotel to capture 2 suspects in a rash of home break-ins
Kennewick police surrounded a hotel earlier this week as part of an investigation into a string of 40 Eastern Washington burglaries.
Two men — Abel Perez Morales, 28, and Alejandro Alvarez Dominguez, 27 — were taken away in handcuffs after they were arrested at the Baymont Inn & Suites on West 27th Place shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Detectives have been searching for suspects in a series of home break-ins in which money, jewelry and guns were stolen, Kennewick police said in a news release.
As officers were investigating, they learned of similar burglaries being looked into by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Connell Police Department.
In all, detectives linked the men to 40 burglaries across Eastern Washington, Kennewick Commander Christian Walters told the Herald.
Alvarez Dominguez was booked into the Benton County jail in Kennewick on investigation of residential burglary.
Perez Morales was booked into the jail on suspicion of residential burglary, possession of a stolen gun and and illegal gun possession.
Sheriff’s deputies already had been looking for Perez Morales in connection with Sept. 19 incident in Franklin County when he was suspected of breaking into a vacant Pasco home. He allegedly had a gun on him at the time.
His previous convictions make it illegal for him to have a gun.
He also has an outstanding warrant in connection with a theft in November in Benton County, court records show.
Police are continuing to investigate the burglaries. Anyone with information or who has not reported a burglary is asked to contact police using the non-emergency dispatch line at 509-628-0333.
