Police investigating after suspicious fire leaves Pasco store heavily damaged

Police are investigating a suspicious fire that left a Pasco clothing store heavily damaged.

Pasco police were called to 1832 Court Street about 4:20 a.m. Wednesday after a security alarm reported that someone had broken into the store, said Ben Shearer, the public information officer with the Pasco Fire Department.

When officers arrived, they found the front window broken and a large amount of black smoke coming from the front of Kiss of Death Clothing.

Pasco fire was called out to help and quickly doused the blaze. Shearer said there was heavy smoke damage to the section of the store that wasn’t burned, he said.

The neighboring businesses did have light smoke damage, but the fire was contained to the store.

Investigators are still trying to determine how the fire started, but it is considered suspicious because of the broken window.

Eddie Jackson, launched Kiss of Death clothing in 2022, according to the store’s Facebook page. He was looking to start a nonprofit to help youth and kids in broken homes with no role models, as well as gang members.

According to the business’ Facebook page, it was started by an ex-con and gang member and targeted at helping others that face the same challenges.

Photos show the business had clothing, appliances, art and collectibles.
