Dog stabbed and killed by a Kennewick grandmother after it attacked her daughter

A grandmother was forced to kill a dog with a kitchen knife after it latched onto her daughter’s arm in an attack earlier this week.

A grandson had asked the woman and her daughter to watch his dog on Monday at a home in a mobile home park on the 4800 block of West Clearwater Avenue, Kennewick Sgt. Chris Littrell said.

Initially reports said the dog was a bulldog, which became aggressive about 4:45 p.m. and attacked the younger woman, who was in her early 40s. It bit her arm and wouldn’t let go.

Her mother grabbed a knife and began stabbing the dog while someone called 911 for help.

When Kennewick police officers arrived, the dog had died.

The injured woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Littrell. No charges were expected, he said.
