Man seriously hurt in dramatic crash south of Prosser

A Grandview man is in serious condition after a wreck on Monday.

Pedra Camarena Pastor, 52, was seriously hurt when a pickup driver pulled out into the path of his car south of Prosser.

Matthew E. Berg, 49, of Kennewick, was stopped at the intersection of Highway 221 and Sellards Road just after 5 p.m. Monday, when he allegedly pulled into the path of the Nissan Sentra Camerana Pastor was driving, the Washington State Patrol said in a traffic memo.

The two vehicles hit at the intersection.

Camarena Pastor was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, the state patrol said. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Trooper Chris Thorson said the injuries were serious.

Berg was not injured, the state patrol said.

The state patrol is continuing to investigate what happened.
