Update: Two people being detained after fatally-wounded man dropped off at Tri-Cities ER
One man is dead and two people are being detained after a man was dropped off at a Tri-Cities ER with a fatal gunshot wound to the head
Kennewick police Lt. Jason Kiel told the Herald that around 5 p.m. a man was dropped off at the Kadlec freestanding ER in Kennewick, at the corner of Highway 395 and 19th Avenue, with a gunshot wound to the head.
Kiel said the driver of the vehicle that dropped the man off got into another car at the ER with a woman driver and a 5-year-old in the car. That vehicle was then driven to an address at 5th and Washington.
Kiel said Chief Chris Guerrero spotted the vehicle and officers were in the process of pulling it over when the man ran out of the vehicle. Police believe he was running into a house nearby.
They detained the woman who was driving the car, and were able to detain the man who they believe fled the vehicle shortly after. Police found a firearm in the vehicle that the woman was driving.
Police have surrounded the house, and are still working on clearing the scene. At this time they are not sure if it was a homicide or suicide.
They are still working to determine where the man was shot before being taken to the hospital. The vehicle the man was dropped off in was being placed on a tow truck at about 6:30 p.m.
At this time police are still asking people to avoid the area while they investigate.
