Pasco police searching for a gunman after a man was shot downtown

Police are continuing to investigate a shooting in downtown Pasco that shut down streets for a while Tuesday afternoon.

A man in his 30s was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland with a gunshot wound to his leg, about 3:30 p.m., according to police on the scene.

The shooting happened in an alley between Lewis Street and Columbia Street near Third Avenue, according to Pasco Police Department posts on Twitter and Facebook.

Traffic was diverted around the area while police searched for the suspect.

Investigators asked area businesses for security camera footage of the area to see what happened and to help identify the shooter.

It was the second violent incident a few blocks apart since Sunday when a suspect accused of stabbing and killing another man was shot by police and later died when he charged at officers with a knife, said police.
