The Washington State Patrol released these images of a Chevrolet Cruze and it’s registered owner. A car with that description was involved in a drive-by shooting in Kennewick.

A man and woman are in jail in connection with a Thursday drive-by shooting near the Benton County Fairgrounds.

Kayla B. Shuttleworth, 22, and Sergio A. Villanueva, 27, were booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of first-degree assault and drive-by shooting.

It’s not clear who was driving Shuttleworth’s black Chevrolet Cruze north on Highway 397, also called Chemical Drive.

The Cruze approached another vehicle that was heading north. The people inside the Cruze started yelling at the men in the other vehicle, and then flashed a pistol, Washington State Trooper Chris Thorson told the Herald.

As soon as the driver spotted the gun, he slowed. Then someone in the Cruze pointed the gun at another car near the 10th Avenue intersection and that driver also hit their brakes, Thorson told the Herald.

The people in the Cruze fired a single shot that passed over the hood and didn’t hit the car. Thorson said the quick action by that driver prevented it from hitting the car.

The Cruze then kept heading north. An image of it was caught on camera at the intersection of First Avenue and Gum Street.
