Investigators are trying to find a black car and the woman who owns it after a Thursday afternoon drive-by shooting on a busy Kennewick street.

Two men were heading north on Highway 397, also called Chemical Drive, near downtown Kennewick when a black Chevrolet Cruze approached their car, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Chris Thorson.

The men didn’t recognize the car or the people inside but someone from the car yelled at them and flashed a pistol.

As soon as the driver spotted the gun, he slowed. Then someone in the Cruze pointed the gun at another car near the 10th Avenue intersection and that driver also hit the brakes, said Thorson in a release.

The people in the Cruze fired a single shot that passed over the hood and didn’t hit the car. Thorson said it was the quick action by that driver prevented it from hitting the car.

The Cruze then kept heading north. And image of it was caught on camera at the intersection of First Avenue and Gum Street.

Investigators are not sure if Shuttleworth was in the Cruze when the shots were fired.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Ryan Sauve at 509-734-5817 or the Washington State Patrol tip line at 509-239-6700.
