Suspected drunk driver jailed after seriously injuring motorcyclist in Kennewick

A motorcycle rider was seriously hurt late Monday after being hit by a suspected drunk driver at a busy Kennewick intersection.

The driver turned left in front of the motorcyclist about 10:20 p.m. at Columbia Center Boulevard and Fourth Avenue, Kennewick police said.

According to dispatch reports from the time of the crash, the rider may have suffered a broken leg. His condition Tuesday wasn’t immediately available.

While police did not release the name of the driver, Benton County jail records show Aron Michael Salazar, 40, was booked on suspicion for vehicular assault.
