UPDATE: 2 teens arrested in connection with Kennewick home invasion robbery
Kennewick police arrested two teens in connection with a home invasion robbery early Monday.
Omar Solorzano, 18, and a 17-year-old male, both armed with guns, reportedly forced their way into a home on the 4000 block of West Kennewick Avenue shortly before 2:30 a.m., Kennewick police said in a release.
After grabbing items, they ran outside. When the man tried following them, one of the teens fired a single shot at him. He was not hurt.
The two teens were spotted by a Benton County sheriff’s deputy driving without their headlights on soon after the robbery. The deputy stopped the car and got their names.
Later, after the deputy released them, Kennewick police learned they were the robbery suspects.
Police found the car later in the morning and got a search warrant for it, as well as for a Pasco home. Investigators said they found evidence from the robbery.
Both teens turned themselves into police. The 17-year-old turned himself in Monday morning and was booked in the Benton-Franklin Juvenile Detention Center on investigation of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and illegal gun possession.
Solorzano turned himself in at 11:50 p.m. Monday. He was booked into Benton County jail on suspicion of the same crimes.
