Washington woman arrested for fleeing Franklin deputies in 130-mph car case
Two people are in jail after speeding away from Franklin County deputies at speeds up to 130 mph earlier this week.
A deputy initially spotted the car on Glade Road going nearly 100 mph at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. He tried to stop the car, but wasn’t able to close the distance, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
The 21-year-old woman reportedly behind the wheel sped up to 130 mph as she passed a second deputy. This deputy turned on his lights and siren, but the driver wouldn’t stop and they lost sight of it.
A few minutes later, a third deputy discovered the car abandoned on Hollingsworth Road.
A gun was found next to the passenger’s seat in the car.
Deputies asked for help from a Pasco police dog team, and K9 Zandor tracked the two suspects for 2 1/2 miles.
A 21-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, both from Moses Lake, were arrested and booked into the Franklin County jail.
While deputies did not post their names, Franklin County jail records show Kaelynn Gabriella Martinez was booked for attempting to elude, obstruction and driving with a suspended license and Kodi Blair Kowallis was booked for gun possession and obstruction.
