Drunk driving suspect hurt in crash near Hanford on Highway 240

A drink driver was hospitalized after rolling his pickup on Highway 240, closing the road for about an hour.

Julian McCarthy, 46, of Yakima, was heading east on the highway near the Hanford site when lost control of the truck about 11 a.m. Thursday, the Washington State Patrol said.

The truck rolled and ended up blocking both lanes. Hanford workers were alerted to avoid the area because it was blocked.

McCarthy was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.

The state patrol said drugs or alcohol was involved in the crash and charges are pending.
