Car prowler accused of pulling gun on West Richland neighbor who confronted him

A 22-year-old car prowler is in jail after he pointed at gun at someone who interrupted him, said West Richland police.

Miguel Naranjo was allegedly searching through a stranger’s car near the corner of Bing Street and South 38th Avenue when a neighbor confronted him about 4 p.m., said police.

Naranjo pulled out a gun, pointed it at the man, and then ran away, said the neighbor.

Police used a dog to track Naranjo, and found him in some bushes in the area.

He was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of second-degree assault and vehicle prowling.

Police are investigating other car prowls in the area to see if they are connected, Police Capt. Thomas Grego said.

Officers from Richland and Kennewick police along with the Benton and Franklin sheriff’s offices and SWAT team members helped find Naranjo.
