Pasco man accused of beating woman over a $100 debt

A Pasco man dragged a woman by her hair, beat her and stole a backpack and her tablet over a $100 debt, police said.

Police were called out to 800 block of West Henry at 7 p.m. last Thursday after reports of a man chasing a woman in a black SUV, according to court records.

They learned Marco Antonio Garcia, 33, had invited a woman over and then confronted her over a $100.

When she refused to turn over the money, he grabbed her by the hair, dragged her to the ground and hit her on the head several times, court records said. Then he grabbed her backpack and tablet.

When she tried to walk away, Garcia and his girlfriend got into a black SUV and followed her. His girlfriend threatened to attack her if she called police.

The woman ran to a witness and asked him to call police.

Garcia was arrested Friday and booked into the Franklin County jail on investigation of second-degree robbery. Bail was set at $20,000.
