15-year-old car prowl suspect arrested after Tri-Cities man was shot at

A 15-year-old was is one of the several suspects accused of shooting a man while prowling cars last week.

Kennewick detectives and regional SWAT team members arrested searched a home on the 2900 block of West Seventh Avenue at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, police said in a Facebook post.

They found both the 15-year-old suspect and a handgun in the house.

The teen was booked into the Benton-Franklin Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree assault.

Detectives linked the teen to the car prowling that happened at 1 a.m. on Aug. 6. on the 400 block of South Rainier Street.

A resident spotted four people searching a vehicle in the neighborhood and confronted them.

According to reports, two of the prowlers fired eight times at the man before running away.

The man was not hit.
