Pickup crashes through center barrier on blue bridge, snarls traffic in both directions

A pickup truck crashed Thursday into the center barrier on the blue bridge causing collisions on both sides of Highway 395 and snarling traffic, the state patrol said.

The pickup crossed from the southbound to the northbound lanes around 10:30 a.m., Washington State Patrol Trooper Chris Thorson said on Twitter. A tractor-trailer and another pickup hit the vehicle in the northbound lanes.

In total, six vehicles were involved, and two people were taken to the hospital, Thorson said.

Both northbound lanes of the bridge were closed for about an hour, and southbound lanes were opened after about 20 minutes.
