Richland police solve ‘crime’ of missing human remains

Richland police have solved the reported crime of a package labeled ‘Human Remains’ that went missing onThursday.

The priority shipping package with red stickers saying ‘Human Remains’ was reportedly delivered by the U.S. Postal Service to a house on the 1100 block of Van Giesen St. between 2 and 4 p.m.

Inside were the cremated ashes of the resident’s father.

Police initially asked anyone with information to come forward Thursday evening.

But shortly after word of the ‘crime’ went out, police learned the postal service employee delivering the package became concerned they had the wrong address. The employee kept the package to verify the delivery address.

Richland police said the package would be redelivered.
