Police still searching for kidnapping suspects after finding Richland home empty
Police are still hunting for two kidnapping and assault suspects after they didn’t find anyone inside a Sanford Avenue home.
Richland detectives continue to investigate after a woman reported being attacked and held against her will at the house on the 800 block.
Police have not released any other details about the suspects.
The woman called police at 10:20 a.m. to report the crime, Sgt. Drew Florence said. Police believed they were still hiding inside the home and surrounded it about 11 a.m.
The men may have broken into the home during the night, said Mitzi Holmes. She told the Herald she went to check on the house while her son was away and found it was surrounded by police.
Investigators believed the suspects had barricaded themselves inside and were armed, so the Tri-City Regional SWAT team was called in.
After four hours, they searched the home and didn’t find anyone inside.
