Man lying in Kennewick street seriously hurt after being hit by car

Kennewick police are looking for more witnesses after a man lying in the middle of Union Street was hit by a car.

Witnesses say the man was on the asphalt in the southbound lane of the street near the intersection with Kennewick Avenue around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday when a car hit him, Lt. Aaron Clem said.

The driver, a 75-year-old woman, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

The man, whose name was not released, was seriously hurt and taken to a local hospital.

Police are still trying to learn who he is and why he was in the road.
