Kennewick police shock pickax-wielding man with Tasers

Kennewick police Tased a man who threatened them with a pickax after he refused to leave a store.

Officers were called to a business on the 800 block of Columbia Drive at 8:30 p.m. Friday after Diego Castellanos wouldn’t leave and yelled at employees.

The 57-year-old was walking down the street with a pickax when Kennewick officers found him. When they told him to drop the tool, he refused and ran into the street, said police.

He then raised the pickax over his head and moved toward two officers. They fired their Tasers and he collapsed, dropped the tool and was arrested.

Castellanos suffered minor injuries. The officers were not hurt.

He was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of third-degree assault, resisting arrest, obstructing a public servant and disorderly conduct.
