A Pasco robber was wielding a cleaver. He demanded $1

A Pasco police officer happened to be at the right place recently to catch a robber with a meat cleaver.

Carlos Omar Hernandez-Navarro, 21, is accused of pulling the large knife on someone in a parked car and demanding one dollar.

The car was parked outside of a combination Jack-in-the-Box and Circle K on Court Street.

Hernandez-Navarro allegedly held the cleaver the throat of a man sitting in a car at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, said police.

Just then, Officer Jason Nuñez walked out of the convenience store.

Hernandez-Navarro then hopped on a BMX bike and took off. The victim and a witness ran to the officer.

Police soon found him trying to hide behind a pickup truck parked in the Permobil parking lot on the east side of the Court Street-Highway 395 overpass. They found the cleaver inside the truck’s grill.

Hernanez-Navarro reportedly told police he pulled out the knife, but didn’t remember what he said. He told police he took off because “he could see he scared the person.”

He is being held in the Franklin County jail on $50,000 bail on investigation of first-degree robbery.
