An accused drunk driver was arrested early Sunday evening after he became stuck on the edge of a rail spur embankment with his wheels off the road.

John Jay Danley, 58, had a blood alcohol level that was more than two times the legal limit to drive in Washington state.

He previously had been ordered to have an ignition interlock installed in any vehicle he drove “to prevent this type of thing ... which (he) didn’t have,” Pasco police said in a Facebook post.

Police got a call for a single-car crash near East Dock Street and Southeast Road 18.

Danley reportedly tried to make a turn when he drove off the road. The rear wheels of the car became lifted off the roadway, so he was unable to reverse or move in any direction.

“Maybe people didn’t understand, so we’ll spell it out this time. Stop. Making. It. Worse,” said the Facebook post.

Danley and a male passenger did not suffer any major injuries. Their dog also was unharmed, police said.

Officer Ana Ramos smelled alcohol when talking with Danley. He “performed poorly” on field sobriety tests, according to police.

Danley later gave two breath samples for 0.188 and 0.191. The legal limit is up to 0.08 percent.

He also had an expired and illegal trip permit and his license is suspended.

“We know that most people don’t drive impaired. We know most people think this is wrong,” said Pasco’s posting. “But for those that don’t fall into one of the above categories ... we are still here and still working.”

Danley was booked into the Franklin County jail on suspicion of DUI, third-degree driving with a suspended license, ignition interlock violation and failure to transfer title within 45 days.
