Mom kidnaps ex, then threatens to shoot him in front of kids, Prosser police say

A 26-year-old woman is charged with kidnapping her former boyfriend at gunpoint and threatening to shoot him in front of their two young kids.

Sarah E. Ramos pleaded innocent in Benton County Superior Court to second-degree kidnapping and second-degree assault with a deadly weapon.

She is out of custody after posting bond on $10,000.

According to court documents, Ramos went to a Prosser home at 11 a.m. May 1 to confront the father of her children, Jesse Gonsalez of Grandview.

She began yelling at her ex after he opened the front door, and demanded that he leave with her, documents said.

When the Gonsalez said “no,” Ramos allegedly pulled out a small green and black handgun, pointed it at him and whispered that she would shoot a woman in the house if Gonsalez continued to refuse.

Gonsalez then agreed to leave and got into the front passenger seat of Ramos’ car. Their kids, ages 2 and 3, were in the back seat.

Ramos drove down the road, keeping her gun trained on him and occasionally using it to hit him in the head and face, court documents said.

At one point, when Ramos turned her attention back to the road, Gonsalez later told police that he tried to take the gun from her. Ramos swerved the vehicle off the road, stopping in front of a house, and jumped out.

Gonsalez also got out, but Ramos threatened to shoot him if he didn’t get back in the car, documents said. He instead turned and ran away.

Ramos drove off but was stopped by Prosser police and Benton County sheriff’s deputies a short distance away.

Her two kids were “screaming and crying inside the vehicle,” and reportedly were handed over to a family member who was called to the scene.

A later search of Ramos’ vehicle allegedly turned up a green and black .38-caliber gun under the front driver’s seat.
