Pasco backyard shooting victim identified. Manhunt still on for the gunmen
A 29-year-old Pasco man was identified Thursday as the victim of a deadly backyard shooting that also wounded two others.
Luis Contreras was shot multiple times while in the backyard of a home on the 1900 block of East Lewis Street shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday, said Pasco police.
And Pasco detectives were continuing their search Thursday for several suspects.
After gunshots broke out behind the home near the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Lewis Street, neighbors spotted several people running away. One person told dispatchers they heard 10 gunshots during the shooting.
People were seen fleeing toward a nearby Conoco gas station being built across the street and possibly getting into a white car.
When officers arrived, they found one man shot several times and another man who was shot once in the arm, according to dispatch recordings.
A third person who was wounded was found soon after.
The Franklin County Coroner’s Office and Pasco police were able to find and notify his family on Thursday.
An autopsy hasn’t been scheduled.
The Washington State Patrol Crime Lab was called in to help collect evidence at the home.
While Contreras had previous convictions as a juvenile, he stayed out of trouble with the law for more than a decade, according to online court records.
Anyone with information on the shooting can contact Pasco police through the non-emergency dispatch number at 509-628-0333.
