Teen likely defending herself when she stabbed 15-year-old father of her child, say police

A 19-year-old woman may have been defending herself when she stabbed the 15-year-old father of her child, Kennewick police said.

Police found the teen with a wound to his upper left leg outside an apartment complex on the 900 block of North Cleveland Street at 8:20 a.m. Saturday.

He was treated at Trios Southridge Hospital.

The teen initially didn’t want to tell police how he ended up hurt, but later told officers that a stranger ran up behind him and stabbed him for no reason, Kennewick police said in a news release.

Detectives soon learned he had been in a fight with the 19-year-old mother of his child, and believe she wounded him defending herself, police said.

Police are continuing to investigate, and no one has been arrested.

Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency dispatch line at 509-628-0333 and reference case number 20-15962.
