Convicted felon caught after cutting ankle monitor and fleeing town, say Kennewick police

A convicted felon is back behind bars after he slipped out of his GPS tracker during a trip to Richland, police said.

Kennewick detectives tracked Roger Dwayne Thompson to Puyallup where he arrested on Thursday evening. Puyallup police helped with the arrest, Kennewick police said.

Thompson has been on the run since Thursday afternoon when he disappeared from the area near Stevens Drive and Knight Street in Richland.

He was recently released from prison after serving a two-year term for theft.

During his time behind bars, he threatened to shoot Department of Corrections employees, police officers and himself when he was released.

As part of his release, he was required to wear an ankle monitor. He was at an appointment near the intersection of Stevens Drive and Knight Street in Richland on Thursday when he cut the tracker off and escaped, said police.
